Sister Alphonsa of Kerala gets sainthood
Sunday, October 12th, 2008God will not forget us in the time of Famine
Saturday, October 11th, 2008I have few incidents in my life when I’ve stopped for a moment and have said “Where is my future leading to?”. Last week was one of those days. I have seen the US Government coming up with a $700 billion rescue plan, and then the press releases started coming from the President Bush’s office. None of this could bring stability to the Wall Street. This week, the Wall Street has lost close to 1000 points. I have 401 K retirement and have investments in the stock market in addition to that. The roller-coaster ride on the Wall Street hit me for a second, and I have thought myself that the world is very unstable. A primetime mortgage can cause a massive impact worldwide.
Everyone is talking about what has happened in America. Some are concerned and some are not. A Mormon believer I have spoken to has told me Bush may implement a Martial law in this country. He believes the Book Of Mormon is going to be fulfilled. He says somebody can point their guns at you and take whatever you have. I’ve spoken to a different friend. He says he is concerned as he can’t do much to change the situation, but hopes the financial market will become more stable when the time comes.
Yes, this is a scary time. I have lost money in this Wall Street melt down. In a crisis like this, I try to put my trust in the Lord Jesus. I believe he is the ultimate Wall Street. He will never fail in your life. The Bilbe says:
“The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied” (Psalm 37:18-19).”
It is the time to trust in the Lord. It is the time to give also. Give to someone who does not have. Give to charity. Give to the Church. Make a visit to the local restaurant and eat. That’s what I’ve done today. I donated $100 to a Church.
